Potatoes!

Dug up 16 pounds of potatoes last night, which included two rows of the red potatoes, about 9 feet total. There are three more rows to dig up. I'm guessing 40 or 50 lbs total this summer. Very nice! Next year, I must plant potatoes that will be ready at different times. Mom says to plant Kennebec potatoes because they will keep fine in the ground and you can dig them up in late fall. "Yields vary, but most gardeners should expect between one and two pounds of potatoes per foot of row."  That would be 9-18 lbs, so 16 lbs is a very good yield.

Sprayed tomatoes, squash, and peppers with the copper spray. We've had a week long dry spell. Five or six days above 90 this year already. Planted bush beans last night, also planted about 8 feet of sprouting red potatoes from the kitchen. Did not cut the potatoes at all in hope that they will grow more rapidly. That's an experiment. No idea if they will be ready before fall, but nothing to lose really.

Pole beans are being skeletonized by something. Need to spray with Neem/Garlic/Hot Pepper very soon.
