Historic heat wave has broken, and scattered showers are forecast for the week. Yesterday I planted:
Transplants: Cauliflower and cabbage (from Agway). Transplanted some of the King peppers away from the basil (from plot 1 to plot 2).
Seeds: Rutabaga, Spicy microgreen mix, meslun, lettuce, carrots, India mustard greens. I had previously scattered cilantro seeds, but none have germinated, and kale seeds, which I think are germinating. Both were from seed heads in the garden.
Still to plant: More carrots, kale, rutabaga. Start some plants at home so they are ready to put in when the onions come out.
Plant status: Some tomatoes turning ripe, but birds are picking at them. Harvested another dozen tomatillos, starting to get more cucumbers than we can eat, first bush beans, butternut squash fruits grew incredibly fast during the heat wave and the watermelon also exploded (both have many blooms and watermelon is just starting to get some tiny fruits). New potatoes are just starting to sprout about the soil surface. Harvested a 2nd cabbage, more onions.
Cooking: Rice & Green tomatoes, coleslaw, corned beef and cabbage, potato salad, beets, salsa verde, Swiss chard. Spending too much time on the weekends just cooking :/
