Pulled up the last of the carrots and planted more carrots, covered with a piece of cardboard, as well as some radishes. The seeds I planted a few days ago are mostly all sprouting. Ideal weather this week for seeds...cloudy, cool, scattered showers. Picked a bag of tomatoes, a bag of tomatillos, a bag of chard, a bag of basil, 3 or 4 more cucumbers (many of the vines are dieing), a few more onions, a bag of jalepenos. Saved some dill seeds. The watermelon is growing up into the tomatoes and pole beans, and there are two small watermelon fruits hanging from the trellis and tomato cage. Clipped back the butternut, watermelon, and tomatillo that was growing into the aisle and into each other like crazy. Butternut is getting lots of squash bugs -- never had that problem before. And lots of Mexican Bean Beetles on the beans. Ugh.
Neighboring plot (#17) said they had a bumper crop of cucumbers and peppers, but their peppers suddenly dropped a lot of leaves just like mine did last year. Huh.
