Harvesting continues

Tomatoes: Removed all the plum tomato plants, they are done. Canned 14 quarts of stewed tomatoes.

Butternut. Have about 15 butternut squash, a few have changed to the darker color. They took over the former potato bed nearby.

Bushbeans: The first bushbeans were not very prolific, I think because they were on the north side of the trellis.  The north side is shady in late summer, sunny in early summer.

Potatoes: Emptied one of the late-planted potato bins, only got a few small ones. They never looked very good, I think it was too hot in the bin during the summer, but should be a good method in early spring.  The ones I planted in July in the ground look better than the ones planted earlier, are blooming, and not so infested with flea beetles.

Watermelon: Half a dozen big melons are ripening.

Jalapenos. Oh, so many. Froze some.

Greens. Yeah! Spicy Asian Greens, lettuce, giant southern mustard, arugula, and something else, all doing well.  Used in a stir fry yesterday.

Kale:  Transplanted about a week ago, they look good.

Cabbage & Cauliflower: Wow, growing like crazy.

Brussel Sprouts:  They tell me I will get the sprouts in the fall.

Carrots: Only a few germinated :(.  Must find another way to do this in the summer.

Beans:  First batch over the weeks, a couple big bags of beans. Second bush beans are just about read to harvest. Second trellis of beans is blooming.

Tomatillos: YEAH!  Lots and lots of tomatillos, Ryan eats the salsa I make. He ate almost a quart of it one day.

Cucumbers: Mostly dead.  Next year do both the hybrid one like this year (have more seeds) and also get some of the more prolific pickling cucumbers. And plant them in batches so when the first ones succumb to the bacterial wilt, some new ones will be ready to take their place.

Basil: Doing great. Made lots of pesto. Remember to add a couple jalapenos to the pesto.
