Cut off some garlic scapes, as well as a few onions that were throwing up flower heads. The carrots I planted last fall look like they are going to flower. Several of the plants seem a bit yellowish, so I'll hit them with some Miracle Grow. Tomatoes are tall and the plum tomatoes are flowering now, but the leaves are small and rolled. Research just indicates it is a sign of general stress, often happening in early summer as the weather changes. It can happen from too much fertilizer and water and from transplanting trauma if the roots are split up during transplanting. The worst ones do seem to be the ones that I had to rip the root ball apart when transplanting.
Getting pea pods, not quite ready to eat yet. The shading screen over the lettuce is working great. I was there around lunchtime and it was perfect.
Added two bags of bonemeal for phosphorus today. Last week I spread fireplace ashes for potatssium. Also sprinkle ashes on the potato leaves to fight the flea beetles. I do think that helped, but it rained quite a bit and the flea beetles are back. Hit them today with a mixture of left over coffee with Neem. I read they don't like coffee.
