Planted today (Note: planted rutabaga before we went on vacation - mid July): [Rutabega just right or too early - the ones harvested so far have been rather bitter, but more are ripening as of mid october]
Carrots [too late - not ready in mid-October]
lettuce (Simpson, Grand Rapids) GOOD
beets [too late - not ready in mid-October]
Spicy Asian Greens GOOD
Giant Southern Mustard GOOD
Had to dig up some of the Kennebecs to make room. I need to thin the rutabega, and plan to try and transplant them tomorrow with showers forecast.
Oddly, my tomatoes showed no signs of septoria before we went on vacation, but now the plum tomatoes are severely infected, which is why those fruits are ripening so fast.
It has been a cool summer. No heat waves at all. Not sure I'll get much watermelon. Even the tomatillos are just sitting there...lots of fruits, but they aren't filling out.
