Harvesting and planting.

4 lbs of carrots and 13 lbs of potatoes.

79 garlic bulbs. The ones planted on the north side of a trellis, or on the north side of potatoes, were small.
Dug up a row of red potatoes to make room for yellow bush beans, which I planted today. Great harvest! 9.5 lbs in one 5-ft row. The little blue bin had only 2 lbs of little red ones, but that's actually about the same lbs/s.f. as in the traditional rows. One of the white Kennebec potato plants was dieing back so I dug it up (1.5 lbs of big potatoes came from it).  A worm had bored into the main stem - maybe a European corn borer.

The summer onions are disappointing, slow to form bulbs, while the butternut is poised to smother them. Did I start the seeds too late? I have pulled a few smallish bulbs so far, but was hoping they would be larger.

The carrots are really long and skinny. Soak the ground before trying to pull them up, seriously. Otherwise it is impossible to pull them. Pull 4 lbs of carrots today.
